Mobility Scooter Hire

Each service can offer both 3 wheel and 4 wheel scooters.

The maximum capacities range from 22 stone (standard seat) to 35 stone (extra wide seat). All our equipment is regularly serviced by an independent contractor who regulates the speed of powered equipment for your health and safety. The scooters are all fitted with front baskets and either a box or bag on the rear allowing light shopping to be carried. The equipment is cleaned at regular intervals to maintain a good standard of hygiene.

Pre-booking, especially in mornings, is advisable

Scooters are for local shopping use only and not available for long term hire loan.

Power Wheelchair Hire

Both right hand and left hand controlled powerchairs are available at each service.

They are mostly 19 stone (standard 18” seat) however Glenrothes, Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy Mercat each have an extra large right hand controlled power chair with a wider (22”) seat and 25 stone capacity. The chairs have a bag fitted to the rear to allow some shopping to be carried. Servicing and cleaning is carried out regularly to the same standard as scooters, ensuring a trouble free shopping experience.

Manual wheelchairs Hire

Each service carries a variety of manual wheelchairs with small wheels or large wheels with a self-propel facility.

Seat widths range from small (16”) to standard (18”) and then wide (22”). The majority of wheelchairs have an 18 stone capacity with wide chairs permitting 21 stone, however Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy (Thistle Street) each have a 22” wide chair with 25 stone capacity. Manual wheelchairs are supplied with a cushion and a rear bag for light shopping. Pre-booking, especially in mornings, is recommended.

Glenrothes, Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy (Thistle Street) also have a power assisted wheelchair (powerpack).

This is basically a standard large wheel chair fitted with a battery and motor which allows the users companion or attendant to control the speed of the chair, taking the strain away from uphill pushing. Pre-booking, especially in mornings, is advisable for powerpack chairs.

Maintenance and cleaning is carried out regularly to the same standard as scooters.
