If you are disabled and really want wings, come and try an Air Experience flight in our two seat dual hand controlled training glider at Portmoak Airfield, near Kinross in Fife, Scotland some 25 miles from Edinburgh.
We operate from the Scottish Gliding Union, which is the largest gliding club in Scotland and the third largest in the UK. The local scenery is superb, with marvellous views from the air of local Loch Leven and the Lomond hills.
If you are able bodied and would like to help with our charity, or would like to come and watch, we welcome you as well.
Get in touch with us and find out more about a very friendly charity and a tremendous sport which is accessible to people of almost all disabilities and ages.
An Air Experience flight will let you experience the joys of silent flight first hand. You might be thinking of taking up gliding, curious, or have it on your ‘must do’ list.
We offer a winch or aerotow launch and up to 25 minutes of soaring flight for £50. If a soaring flight is not possible on the first flight a second launch (on the same day) will be offered at no extra cost.
Depending on the weather you might experience hill lift, soar in thermals, fly in “wave” or simply float down from an aerotow (up to about 2,500 feet). Either way it is the experience of a lifetime floating quietly and effortlessly above some of Scotland’s most spectacular countryside. From a typical aerotow you can see the local hills, the Ochils and Loch Leven. You can often see across the Forth and Tay, and sometimes as far as the Grampians.
If you decide you want to take up gliding, we can upgrade your Air Experience Flight to full membership – contact us for details.Your air experience flight includes 3 months introductory membership of WoA. Any further flights will be at the normal cost, as per our tariff. At the end of the 3 months any further period of membership must be for a full 12 months.
